About WheelsUp Life, Wheels & All the Adventures In Between

Welcome to WheelsUp — your go-to space for real talk, big dreams, and everyday inspiration around life, accessibility and travel.

We call ourselves a “Jack of all trades, master of some,” because we cover it all: travel blogging, life in a wheelchair, navigating new normals, raising disability awareness, hosting training workshops, pushing for universal design — and everything in between.

Most importantly, WheelsUp is here to inspire, inform, and uplift.

Whether you’re adjusting to a life-changing event or just looking for ways to make life more accessible, we want you to feel seen, supported, and motivated to keep rolling forward.

“Challenges are what make life interesting. Overcoming them is what makes it meaningful.”

The Voice Behind WheelsUp

Right now, the WheelsUp blog is mostly steered by Wanda — passionate writer, accessibility advocate, life-lover, and the kind of person who sees roadblocks as detours worth taking.

She shares honest, insightful stories about disability, accessibility, design, travel, and all those unexpected moments life throws our way.

But…

We’re committed not to keep this a one-woman show for long. We’re excited to recruit feature guest bloggers too!

Why?

Because fresh voices bring fresh perspectives — and everyone has a story worth telling.

How It All Began

On 13 December 1998, Wanda’s life took an unexpected turn. A burst fracture to her L1 vertebrae resulted in a spinal cord injury — a moment that would redefine not only her path, but that of her entire family.

Everyday activities that many take for granted — popping out to the store, going on holiday, entering public spaces — suddenly became significant challenges. But Wanda and her family faced them head-on. With determination and adaptability, they navigated their new reality together.

Nearly two decades later, in May 2017, a long-awaited trip to Europe was marred by the harsh reality of inadequate airline accessibility. The experience was frustrating, even disheartening — but it also became a catalyst. Wanda realised it was time to speak up, to advocate, and to create change.

That spark ignited WheelsUp — a platform born from lived experience, driven by a passion for accessibility, and powered by the belief that no one should be left behind.
